The AC of the gym was a blessed relief after the heat outside. The place had the same sort of atmosphere every gym had - clean, cool, and comfortable. Morgan was certainly glad for it, although he imagined he’d be working up a proper sweat soon enough, rather than just a sweat from being outside.
When he’d entered that contest on that online magazine to get a free 3-year membership to a new local gym, he’d done it not expecting it to actually reap dividends. It was one of those things he’d just done on a whim, thinking that it would be nice but not thinking it would be realistic. And yet, the deadline had gone by, and

Tammy leaned in closer to the birdcage before her, some of her brown locks dangling before her face. It was her first time in this shop, and she had already fallen in love with one of their birds for sale. “Oh, what a cute little parrot! You’re adorable, aren’t you?”
To her surprise, the bird looked at her with wide, fearful eyes. “Run aww-ARK-ay!”
Tammy blinked, taking a fearful step back. What? She knew birds could speak, but there was something to its tone, something to its eyes. She looked at them closer, seeing something almost human in t

Lina was driving down the highway. She was beginning to drift off to sleep, but continued to stay focused on the road. She kept driving, and kept almost falling asleep. Eventually she gave in, and parked on the side of the road. Seeing no other options, she decided to just go to sleep in her car.
She awoke a few hours later to an energetic sound. She was confused by the sound's presence, it sounded like nothing she had heard before. Outside of the window of her car, she saw a quick flash of light from the middle of the forest she parked by, followed by a similar-sounding energy sound.

Phil walked through the empty streets that he had grown familiar to as he approached his home and neighborhood. Of course, it wasn’t always this empty. Rather, it was empty because he was currently walking home in the dead of the night. And, well, when you didn’t live in the busy big city, there really wasn’t much to the night that didn’t involve sleeping or staying at home. There wasn’t even any sort of traffic in that part of town at this hour.
Phil, a young, 25-year old man at the prime of his health and youth, did not mind this silence and lonely atmosphere, however. He had had a very busy day, after all, an

Unearthed Legend - Rayquaza TF (by Wyr)
“Oh man…. how much longer until I’m done for today?” John thought to himself, idly flipping burgers as he counted down the minutes to when he could finally quit for the evening. The tired, worn-out twentysomething was just waiting for the day to end so he could get back home and get a few hours rest. That was all he could do, given that his boss seemed to have a bone to pick with him, calling him out to work at the most inappropriate times and everything. He had been working continuously for the last three weeks, not getting much time to rest in between shifts.
“Almost time now…” He thought, watchi

What is my name, you might ask? I don't actually have a name; not anymore at least. The children here refer to me as "mistress" while the older ones refer to me as "sister", but I don't have a definite name. I don't even need one, anyway, as it seems so insignificant to me, just like my past life. Now you may be asking, "Past life? What are you talking about?" Well the thing is that I used to be human, and I can remember it all clearly. But, as I said before, it means very little to me now. Do you want to hear how I ended up like this? I don't mind telling you. But before I do, let me tell you a little bit about who I was befor
